dance for you
The track model at 804 Dance Place
At 804 Dance Place, we know that dancing fits into our student's lives in all different ways. For that reason we developed our three different track options--INTRODUCTION, COMPANY, CORPS & DROP IN--so that every kind of dancer can take meaningful classes which fit their needs and goals. Explore descriptions of each track below and call us to try out the track and classes which appeal to you or your growing dance student!
all our tiny dancers start here...
All new, young students start out in the INTRODUCTION TO DANCE level. 804 Dance Place offers Introduction to Dance classes in limited-class sessions through Hanover County Parks & Recreation, and also as year-long, weekly classes culminating in a class performance in the 804 Dance Place Gala. INTRODUCTION TO DANCE classes include Creative Movement and all Tutu Level classes where students have fun as they use movement and expression to support growth in kinesthetic awareness, basic dance technique, social interaction, concentration, self-esteem and creative expression.

----AFTER COMPLETING THE INTRODUCTORY LEVELS, 804 DANCE PLACE STUDENTS HAVE OPTIONS!----
804 Dance Place aims to keep dance a part of every student's life--whether that's in our Company Track with 8 classes a week and Student Company rehearsals or in our Corps Track with 1 or 2 classes a week. The Drop-In Track provides a low-pressure environment for adults or college students who
want to try or return to dance classes. Dance can fit in any schedule when there's the opportunity to dance for you.

The COMPANY TRACK is the most traditional track for a well-rounded, performance oriented dance education. Starting with Petite level classes and progressing through Junior and Ensemble/Pre-Professional levels, these dancers commit to training in (minimally) BALLET, MODERN and JAZZ dance styles in order to round out their dance technique and performance artistry. COMPANY TRACK students are eligible to audition for Student Companies: The 804 Petite Company, The 804 Junior Dance Company and The 804 Ensemble.

The 804 Dance Place CORPS TRACK is designed for students who love dancing, but aren’t looking to commit to a minimum number of classes or audition for Student Companies. This track is specifically designed for students who have other interests—sports, band, show choir, theater, music, religious obligations, tutoring, etc—which also require weekday time. CORPS TRACK classes run throughout the year and culminate in performances in the 804 Dance Place Gala--just like the Performance Track. Geared towards adults or college students interested in exploring or returning to dance, the DROP IN TRACK is for the dancer who wants to take fitness, introductory or professional level dance classes without the pressure of attendance every single week. Facilitated by a pre-paid 804 DANCE CARD, dancers commit to smaller numbers of classes at once--5-week sessions. Class is unique every week, so every-once-in-a-while dancers don’t have to worry about missing sequential class development.
